This is the clock I had in the sewing room, something I picked up on sale at Hobby Lobby. It's ok, but I've never been real crazy about it. Today I decided to give it a little make-over. It was one of those unplanned, make it up as I go along kind of projects. I wanted to do something with fabric, something that would be fitting for a sewing room. Then I remembered this cool bag. I love the frayed edges and the random size and placement of the scraps. BINGO! A scrappy clock would be perfect for the sewing room. I started by tearing some strips of fabric. I wanted to use red and aqua. I also used some linen to keep it from being too bright.
Then I sewed the scraps to a base fabric, light weight cotton.
Next I traced around a plate to get a circle the same size as the face of my clock and cut it out with pinking shears. I made a hole in the center and inserted a grommet. I removed the hands from the clock and covered it with white glue, placed the patchwork circle and replaced the hands.
There you have it, a scrappy clock.
How creative! I would have never thought of that. But I guess I don't need to since their are creative bloggers like you. I will have to remember it though.

I have admired the measuring tape fabric in the past - and I love the way that you've incorporated into this design. And there's that red and aqua again!

Oh, I just picked up some measuring tape ribbon tape so I can use it on some scrappy projects as soon as the Christmas crazy is over. The clock looks terrific, and thank you for the lovely comments on my blog about my thinking in the box problems.

That clock is wonderful, you are so very clever. Now if work and my girls' activities would slow down, I would love to sew. Until then, I will live through your projects!! Thank you.

Autum, I love it! My daughter is getting a sewing machine for xmas so I'm thinking of having her do something similar with a bulletin board! KOOL! Check out the wreaths my special group of girls made. Simple but each one unique.
