It's a quiet, rainy Saturday, why not dust off the cobwebs at my sad, forgotten blog?
I wonder if a blog is even relevant anymore, with people keeping track of things by way of twitter, instagram, facebook, and probably others I'm not hip enough to know about.
I read a couple of blog posts recently that made me miss the old days of blogging. The days I spent hours sewing and more hours blogging about it. I can't put my finger on what shifted and what happened to that girl. The girl who sewed and blogged. I miss her.
That girl wouldn't be a month late introducing the new man in my life. He's small, pale and extremely handsome.
I'm so proud to introduce Sawyer Mitchell, my son's first born son and my first grandson. He was born on July 2 and as you can imagine, stole my heart at first sight.
It was discovered soon after birth that Sawyer was going to need surgery. Thank God, the surgery went smoothly with no complications, but not knowing what the extent might be, Casey was allowed to come home on emergency leave from Afghanistan. The photo above was taken as he was meeting his son for the first time. It's a little blurry, because I was shaking with excitement, but I think it captures the emotion of the moment.
What's new with you, friends? Let's catch up! If you don't follow me on instagram, please do. That way I can follow you too. I've been able to keep up with a few of my old blogging buddies that way and I'm slightly better about posting there. (only slightly) There's a link over in my sidebar.
Congratulations to the whole family on the arrival of Sawyer! Glad to hear his surgery was a success.
Congratulations on becoming a grandmother!! I too became a first time grandmother just a few weeks ago. :)

A new grandson!! How exciting...congrats!!!! It's hard sometimes to find the time or inspiration to blog. I used to be a lot more faithful and consistent writing on mine too. But for me it's a release. My life is certainly not very exciting but my few followers say they enjoy keeping in touch this way. I'm not on twitter and never seem to post on Instagram. I'm sure you'll get your mojo back!!!!! Good luck!

Awwww, I saw a new baby on Instagram and it's nice to have more of a story behind him. Congratulations -- how fun. He's a beautiful baby! It's nice to see you back here too. Instagram is fun, but it just isn't a big enough platform for all the details of life! ;-D

Hi Anna. I agree, it's nice to know more than a picture with a short caption tells.
Hope you are well.

Hi Diane! Bayleigh thinks he's wonderful. She loves holding him, when she gets the opportunity and wants a brother or sister of her own.
My niece had a baby girl in April, so Bayleigh is suddenly the big cousin and she loves her new role.
I hope you are doing well.
Bayleigh still plays with Ruby, the doll you made for her.

Thank you and congratulations to you Miriam. Grandchildren are the best gift! We also have a six year old and three year old granddaughters Bayleigh and Harper. Sawyer is our first grandson.

Thank you Jane! I don't do Twitter either. I think my blog is set up to tweet when I have a new post, but I just never got the hang of it. I like Facebook for keeping up with family, but I agree, nothing beats a blog post.

Congratulations on the handsome new addition to your family! You stated my feelings, exactly, on blogging. I miss those early days, when blogs were personal, and not full of ads, or created to make money. I still blog, for my family and friends, but mostly as a diary for myself. Happy to see you popping back on the blogsphere.

What a handsome baby!!! I miss blogging, too, and I miss your posts. Your blog name popped into my head last night and I thought, "Whatever happened to her?" I'll follow you on IG. Gonna go find you!
