I have have so many fascinating things I would love to talk about. Like...
- My cat's hyperactive thyroid
- Making pompoms out of yarn
- Spring (did you hear that NC? enough with the cold, it's SPRING!)
- Bayleigh. I Never run out of Bayleigh stories, like the time I said son of a gun, and she asked if I meant son of a #@$&*. Yes she did.
- I can't remember if I introduced you to Lola. Did I? A chihuahua mix I found abandoned beside the road.
- Early menopause. Oh joy!
- Trying to learn new makeup strategies for a face that isn't as young as it once was.
- Pillowcase dresses. So sweet aren't they?
- Our pending induction into the club of jobless folks. The plant where Mitch has worked for the past 26 years is closing in a couple of months. Oh my!
- Some of my new favorite things.
See, just that quick I came up with ten potential blog posts. I have absolutely no excuse. Where shall I start, the starving cat or menopause? Job loss or stray dog? Foul mouthed four-year-old? You tell me, what are you just dying to hear about?
My cat has a hyperactive thyroid.....expensive diagnosis there! Luckily change in diet has sorted her out, the food cost isnt completely (italics) crippling!

All of the above!

Ah, it's all good! Apart from the Mitch job thing, which sucks.

Well, I have a foul mouthed two year old. Except she has sort of stopped for the moment. Thank god.

Sarah, I nearly choked when she said that. It was completely innocent on her part, she had no idea she was cursing. (that time) She just thought I got the saying wrong. I told her no, I meant to say son of a gun, and asked where she heard it the other way. I was fully expecting to bust Mitch. She said she heard it on tv. I was still sure it was Mitch. That same night we were watching Modern Family and they said it twice in one episode. Guess she did hear it on tv (too). I still don't think Mitch is innocent ;)

Hi Katrina,
I tried the special food, the bagged kind, not canned. Abby didn't like it, so I switched to the oral medicine. It's a tiny pill she gets once daily. It has been about 10 days and she's finally gaining some weight. She was almost skeletal, poor thing. Get appetite hasn't subsided any yet though. She acts like she could eat a hoarse.
Is your cat an older cat? Abby is about 12. I'm not sure how old, she was a stray and I've had her more than 11 years.
I'm glad to hear your cat is doing well with the food.

Oh my goodness! I moved to Asheville 6 weeks ago, (from FL,) and my feet have been like ice...and today, freezing rain. I too have been trying to adjust my makeup for my less than youthful face. Youtube has some great videos.

You are right NC needs to warm up- It's spring! Bayleigh sounds like a hoot. Your blog is all good. Hope your hubby will find something soon. It's been slow for work in NC.

Hi Jen,
Watching the news this morning, the forecast is promising. Spring like weather for the whole seven days to come. Yay!!
Bayleigh is a hoot. I really should write down more of the funny things she says so I can remember them and tease her about when she's a teenager.
I think I'm still in a bit of denial about the job thing, my whole Scarlet mentality. I 'll think about that tomorrow... : )
Have a great day and enjoy your weekend!

We have a Chihuahua mix, too. Ours came out of a cornfield. He is REALLY smart, but comes with all the nasty Chihuahua behavior (also the shaking). If you need ideas for tricks to keep her busy I have a rather extensive list of ways to hide food to keep your dog out of trouble for 10 minutes.

So glad to see you blogging again! Sorry about Mitch's job. Strangely enough, my husband lost his job this week. Pretty scary when you get to be our age! Funny story about Bayleigh! Our grandson is three now and just the other day he was riding in the car with his Dad and when they hit a pot hole in the road, he bounced a bit in his car seat and then said "what in THE hell IS GOING ON?" We have no idea where he heard that either. We tried not to laugh but it was hopeless.

Hi Diane,
I'm so glad to hear from you!! I'm so sorry about your husband. Yes, it is scary at our age. Not old enough to retire, but certainly not an age where you thought you'd be starting over.
Your story about your grandson is so funny, and so familiar. It's so hard not to laugh, especially when they are so skilled at using inappropriate words so appropriately at such a young age. I don't really curse much and it's only the more mild words, but others around here are more skilled in the use of colorful language. For Mitch it's usually only when he's frustrated with something he's working on. Casey, he curses like the Marine he is. He thinks it's hilarious to come busting in the back door and yell out Shut The Front Door!!! Directed at the barking dogs. Bayleigh loves it.
Remember making Bayleigh that precious doll when she was a little baby. She loves it and plays with it every time she's here. And the little blue apron, remember that? She still wears it, although she's grown so much it's more of a bib on her now than an apron. Last weekend she put it on Lola, the chihuahua. It looked like a little doggie dress and fit perfectly. I wish I had taken a photo to send you.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I am so sorry to hear about the plant closing where Mitch has worked so many years!!! He is so talented he shouldn't have a problem finding another job or going into business for himself.
That sweet Bayleigh I can just hear that correction now...I'm so guilty of saying Oh S 4 letter word...one of the first words out of my now 4 year old granddaughter was OH S-word and used it correctly...I received call about it from her mother...
And we had sleet here on the east coast of Virginia last night...Didn't have enough snow for a bowl of snowcream but it was freezing all winter and spring. Bring on Beach Weather I say...
Posted by: Elaine | April 05, 2013 at 04:04 PM
Hello Elaine! So nice to hear from you : )
The Oh S word slips here now and again too : ) I think the first bad word Bayleigh ever said was the big daddy of bad words. I was looking at something and said What the ... not finishing the sentence, so she finished with what she thought I left off. That was definitely not the word I was looking for. I think it is one of her dad's favorite words. They certainly are little sponges, taking in everything they see and hear.
Snow in April is just wrong, isn't it? I think the Raleigh area had some sleet yesterday. It was just cold and rainy here. We only got snow once this year and it melted pretty quickly. Even without snow though, it seemed to be a colder than usual winter. We are all ready for some beach weather too!
I hope you have a wonderful and sunny weekend!

Hi Mijk! Wow, it is great to see your name in my inbox. How are you doing?
Keeping up with friends like you is the very reason I need to keep this blog going.
We have faith that we will be fine after the plant closes. We aren't sure what the future will hold, but we will get through it.
I hope all is well with you and your family.
