That's what I feel like sometimes. I just can not keep up. I guess it doesn't help that every little bit I know about blogging has been self taught. I'm not a very good teacher. I'm a good worker, but not a good teacher.
So, apparently Google Friends Connect is going bye-bye. I'm not even sure if I should be upset. See, I told you I'm darn near clueless. I don't want to loose any friends, not friends who read my blog and I also don't want to loose the blogs I've subscribed to. I use Google Reader, will my GFC subscriptions no longer be updated? Clueless I tell you.
Why does Google have to be all sneaky in trying to make folks try Google +? Another learning curve I have to navigate. Folks, I'm not getting younger. I'm not nearly as sharp as I once was. Not that I was ever the sharpest tool in the shed.
So, can anyone enlighten me? What do I need to do to assure we can all still be friends? BFFs.
While googling around to try to find some answers, unsuccessfully btw, I came across a suggestion to check out Bloglovin. First I'd heard of it, but I'm going to try it out.
Anyway, I guess I'm going to have to devote some time to tweaking the blog a bit. It looks like a dinosaur in this world of sleek and sophisticated blogs. I need to streamline things, remove some things, add some. Lord help me, my head hurts thinking about it. I guess the GFC gadget will be the first to go. If you are following me through GFC and would like to continue reading my sporadic and semi interesting ramblings, please follow me through... oh I don't know, some other method. There's a Blogloving button over there on the left, there's also a button that lets you follow through a reader of your choice. I added the Google + badge, but I'm mad at Google for starting this whole mess to begin with. I'm mad at Picnik too. I'm mad and pouting.
Now, aren't you glad you checked in here today for all this positivity? You are welcome. Now I'm off to take some motrin and demo work on this blog. Can't I just spray paint it?
I don't get too attached to any Google products. Remember how excited people were about Google Wave? Google Buzz? Both gone now, just a couple of short years later. I'm sure Google+ will be gone in short order as well. As long as they don't mess with Reader, I'm fine :-)

I don't remember Google Wave and Google Buzz has already gone away? Or am I thinking about Google Chrome... I can't keep up. It certainly doesn't look like Google+ is catching on. It's all too much for me. I already spend way too much time on the computer. I don't see myself spending much time getting to know about it.
I love my Reader too!

I wish they would just admit that they are too late to the party with Google Plus. I hope they don't get rid of google reader because that's what I use to keep up with all my blogs. I used to use bloglines before they shut that down and then had to move everything to Google Reader. Fingers crossed it sticks around.

You're speaking all kinds of greek to me. I'm just impressed that you have a google+ button up there. I keep getting popups and junk for google+ and I keep ignoring them -- mostly 'cause I don't get it.
And I think your blog looks all sleek and modern already. I really need to do a rehab, but I made the mistake of hacking all my stuff and now to update it would take WAY more work than I want to take away from sewing/fun time. What to do What to do....

I do not like google plus at all. I am sad to see google friends going away. All of that should still be updated on your google reader so you will still get updates.

I didn't think GFC had anything to do with reader? Not that I would really know. I hope it doesn't affect it, because that's how I read of the blogs I keep up with! On my phone with an app. If that won't work anymore I don't know what to do.

Totally understand where you are coming from Autum! After the realization that anything regarding the internet will be in a constant state of change I decided not to put so much pressure on trying to keep up. Instead I keep a a folder with all the links to my favorite blogs, etc. in the favorites sections on my computer not anywhere else. Does this make sense?
Oh, and dont be so hard on yourself, you are very very smart!

I think your posts still show up on my reader....I joined pinterest and twitter and google + only because I'll soon be promoting an etsy shop. I took some time to learn about google+, and it's way better than facebook for so many reasons, but as facebook is already so entrenched in our brains, I don't know that google will ever surpass it.
I just don't want to feel tied to technology, and I've found myself thinking lately what my life would be like if I didn't have a blog at all. Or just a blog that chronicled my life (family, thoughts, struggles, and yes decorating and crafts). I miss the community in blogging, and pinterest and other social media make it easy to read lots of blogs, but not easy to build relationships. I keep stumbling upon blogs with way fewer followers than me, but with way MORE comments and interaction. Wonder of wonders, most don't have a ton of advertising and social buttons.
I know how you feel, though. Old and set in my ways, *grin* (or is that *groan*?). Your blog is still one of my faves, and I love your decorating style so much.

I use Google Reader and use an app on my ipad called Feeddler.. I have found blogs that have the Google+ but do not have the RSS feed to subscribe to the blog. I tried Google+ for a hot minute then realized it was too much...lots of cool things just more than I needed. I did see the bloglovin site while searching for an app. PS- I enjoy your blog, I also thought our stories are similar- my husband does autobody/paint "his" garage is filled with mopars, and I will be 44 this year and we have been married for 24 years and our daughter will be 24 this year too.. Also I remember your husband did something for your curtain rod in the bay style window. Do you have a link to that, I have the same style window and need to show my husband how to make the rod..
Thanks, Sharon

Wow Sharon, thats a lot of things we have in common. Mitch will be upset if I dont ask about your husbands mopars. What does he have? Mitch has finally started working on a 73 challenger he bought years ago to restore for Casey. I think he hoped it would be a project they could work on together, but Casey was never that interested in hanging around to help, so he never finished. He got the itch again recently and has made a little progress.
He still has the his first car, a 68 Charger. He got it when he was 15. I joke that he would get rid of me before the Charger, and he probably would ; )
He made the curtain rod out of electrical conduit and used a pipe bender to get the angles. Heres a link to the post.
