That's the only explanation I have for what happened today. It certainly wasn't planned. I had no idea when I woke up this morning that later in the day I'd be doing this.
My plan was to give her some money for her birthday,
but that isn't what she wanted.
What she wanted more than anything was for us to go get matching tattoos.
Wha??? Mother, daughter ink?
I'm not one of those cool moms.
I don't have tattoos.
Or, I didn't have any.
I woke up tattoo-less.
This is now,
And of course, the birthday girl got one too.
She's 24 today! How did that happen?
Are you wondering if it hurt?
It felt like being stung by a family of angry wasps.
It wasn't pleasant, but not unbearable and best of all, it was pretty quick.
Nice choice! Be careful, they are addictive! :)

I have a tattoo, too. I got it when I was 30, but I haven't gone for another one. My daughter wants us to get matching tattoos. I'm not sure I want another. Hmmm.
I like yours. I really believe if you're going to put something permanent on your body, it had better be meaningful!

I agree Rachel. Thats why this is my first. This does have meaning. Having a chronic lung disease, I know that the very act of breathing is not one to take for granted. The dandelion is for Bayleigh. Since she was a tiny one, she has loved dandelions. Really loved them. She cleaned our yard and started picking them in the neighbors yard.
I think its pretty special and Im glad I waited this long to get it. If I had done it when I was 18 it may have been a unicorn ; )

Thank you Lisa!
Ive heard they are addictive. I saw one on pinterest that I would like to have on my foot, but that would be my limit.

I think it is wonderful and a wonderful saying. I got one done at 18 at thesame time as my 2 sisters, and 18 years later I am thinking of another.

Wow Autum. This brought tears to my eyes (and not cause of the wasp stings either!) I'm not a tattoo person, but if I had a daughter, I would SO go get a tattoo with her. You're SOOO lucky!

I never thought I'd want a tatt, but I must admit, I like you'res. The church I belong to, LDS, frowns on body ink, but I have seen some on pinterest that I would secretly love to have. Something meaningful, yet discreet :)

Im a much cooler mom now that my children are adults Nancy. They didnt like me very much in their late teens, but I have a good relationship with both my son and daughter now.
Im sure your daughter will want to hang out with you when shes 24!

Oh wow - I love the dandelion with the birds. Beautiful! I think a tattoo on your foot would hurt like crazy. My daughter has a wave tattooed on the top of her foot. It's gorgeous but...OUCH!

Oh yes, your tattoo certainly has meaning...much more so than a unicorn haha.
