Of course, I'd love to be a more financially secure, who wouldn't? But I think even if I had plenty of extra cash in my bank account, I'd still choose to do it myself when possible. For me, I get more satisfaction from having something pretty, and knowing I had a hand in making it or making it beautiful than if I had just purchased it.
I love looking at the Pottery Barn catalog, even though I know I will likely never make a purchase. The fun in it for me, is the challenge of furnishing and decorating my home to look like it could have come from a catalog, by shopping at Goodwill.
That's why I couldn't be more pleased to be featured today at Knock Off Decor. A website entirely dedicated to getting the look for less. Definitely my kinda place.
What about you? Are you a buyer or a DIYer?
My hubby and I have always been DIYers, too. I've loved following your DIY projects. Gordon and I were at Lowes this morning and he saw a center island painted black and distressed. He said that we could do that in our kitchen. I just laughed b/c as you know I had already started thinking about that! I am going to show him the pictures of your kitchen this afternoon.
Have a great week-end. And congrats on being featured!!

Yay Karen for a willing husband!! They usually have to be drug kicking and screaming to agree with painting cabinets. I know mine did. Something about men and wood. They think its a sin to paint, no matter how ugly.
I cant wait to see what you do.

I found your blog from Todays Creative Blog: Blog Critique. I'm not going to critique your blog, I'm going tell you how much alike we are. I will spend hours arranging, rearranging, and rearranging again. Each time I'll step away and say, "That's it. It's fine. Leave it alone." But a few minutes later, I'll still go back! So I can feel your pain there, my friend! Anyway, it turned out very nicely. Don't beat yourself up about it b/c on your eye it will never be perfect, but everyone else will think it's fabulous. Now if I could only listen to my own advice. . . Okay, enough from me, going to explore some more of your blog! Hope you'll check out mine :)
