The worst blogger award. I have really become such a bad blogger. I fell right off the face of the earth there, didn't I? Not even a proper thank you to the folks who so kindly joined my first ever link party. Thank you ladies! Sorry it's so late coming.
I didn't really fall off the face of the earth. Actually, I was holed up in the sewing room, sewing and gluing my little fingers off in preparation for Christmas. Here's where the really bad blogger part comes in. I made at least 75% of the gifts I gave this year, and do I have a photo? That would be a very sheepish, head hung in shame, no.
The shame of it! At one point I had about a dozen fleece scarfs adorned with singed fabric flowers on my sewing table. Great blog photo op right? Too busy to get the camera and the lighting in there stinks... excuses, excuses.
Alyssa knowing how shameful it was not to take proper photos, kindly left one of her gifts here for me to photograph. My daughter is a better blogger than me and she doesn't even have a blog.
It's a teapot lamp. Wonderful instruction on how to make your own can be found at Vintage Revivals. I used all elements I already had, just had to plop down 20 bucks for the drill bit. Even at that, I think it's a pretty cute gift for $20, don't you? Alyssa especially loved the lamp, because she collects pretty tea cups.
I don't have a photo of the pile of scarfs I made, but I did take one of my own, just so I could share how cute it is and encourage you to make your own, cause it was crazy easy.
And it's really warm. A big thank you to Suzanne at Just Another Hangup for the tutorial.
I also made some cute little girlie stuff for Bayleigh's new room. Alyssa re-did her room for Christmas. Is she her mama's girl or what? She worked like crazy getting it ready and revealed it on Christmas morning. Bayleigh had no idea it was going on. I'll get pictures and share them soon. She got a new kitchen made from an old entertainment center. C.U.T.E!!
So, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, from the official worst blogger.
**I didn't forget I promised to give away two fabric flowers and I did rrandomly select a name- the day I said I would. It was Rachel. Rachel, email me your address and I'll send you your flowers.
Love the teapot lamp! Thatbis the cutest gift, Autum! The scarf is beautiful - and now I'll be able to make my own and adorn it with flowers from you. Thank you! I am very excited!
p.s. You're not the worst blogger; we all fall off the face of the earth now and then. I'm glad you're back.

You are so funny! I can't wait to see Bayleigh's new room! I am glad you were able to sew and have fun making gifts, you can't do EVERYTHING and I think you did the best thing of all...creating and giving!
XOXO

No, I am the worst blogger!! I have not blogged since like the Eisenhower administration. I was just thinking today that next Christmas is going to be different....not so hurried and frenzied. I will buy alllll year long instead of the last minute and that includes sewing all year too! I made 2 quilts and 3 mug rugs in December and honestly THAT was not fun!!! The scarf is soooo cute. I must make those for next year. And the lamp is to die for!!!! You go girl. Now to make up for being a bad blogger, please show us in detail Bayleigh's new room!! ; )

Well, you may not be the most consistent blogger, but you are my favorite! I love seeing your projects - it makes me want to get in my little sewing/craft corner & get busy or spray paint something! :-) The scarf is positively adorable! Can't wait to make some of my own.

Hey, go easy on yourself. You've been busy living life. I am glad you took some time to share that adorable lamp and the tutorial link. That just might have to go on my to-do list for 2011.

I was just thinking today, I wish Autum would post something, and then you did! You are definitely not getting the worse blogger award! I got a cutter for Christmas, and I am dying to be inspired by your work on it. The scarf and lamp are adorable!

I love that lamp! So creative and cute! Don't worry about falling off the face of the earth. It was the holidays and I'm sure your gift recipients adored their treasures you made them. I didn't blog over the holidays either, and I don't really have a good excuse..

I do so love the teapot/cup lamp! It is adorable!!! I bought at an estate sale a couple streets from me, a pewter teapot, coffeepot or chocolate pot...it's tall and skinny to make a lamp. Saw one at Newport News Fall Festival year before last done as a lamp and loved it. Should have bought it as a very decent price. But bought two benches for DD at that booth which she wanted. Was going to call that lady to see if she still had it but she got really sick and sadly didn't make it.

I sure am glad when you do blog. Christmas is a crazy time and I am not sure we have much time to read blogs then. My daughter made that scarf the other day and had so much fun making it. Thankyou for sharing.

I don't think that it's official - I'm sure that I've disappeared for longer than that from my blog every now and then...
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you, too!

did you use fleece for the scarf pictured? It is so beautiful! I need to see what I have in my stash to make one of these this afternoon!
Posted by: Brenda | January 07, 2011 at 07:58 AM
Yes Brenda, it is fleece. Just cut two four inch strips, the whole width of the fleece. Sew them together to make one very long four inch strip and bunch and sew, bunch and sew. I will add that if you pull on the scarf, you know to straighten and such while wearing, the threads sometimes break. It may just be my sewing machine, I dont know. Anyway I made another one last night and used elastic thread in the bobbin. The ruffling then had some give and could be stretched a bit and still bounce back w/o the thread breaking.
Be warned, making them is addictive!

Hi! I seem to disappear all to frequently. Thats bad enough, but what really makes me a bad blogger is I was making all sorts of things I could have shared here on the blog, but I didnt take a single picture along the way. Now the gifts have been given and all I can do is talk about them.

Hello Eleanor. Christmas was a crazy time around here. I really need to start right now, make a gift or two a month and maybe next Christmas I could actually enjoy it instead of running around like a chicken with my head cut off.
Take Care!

Hi Elaine. I was so happy with how the lamp turned out. I should have mentioned that I had a lot of help from Mitch. I decided on the lay-out and then I held as he drilled the holes. I dont think its really a one person job unless you are really good with a drill. When you first start drilling, before you actually get through any of the porcelain the object really moves around. But with two people it wasnt difficult at all.
Take Care!

Thank you Amber!
I dont know how I used to post almost daily. Its a job to find time to do it once a week. I think back then I just took a picture and slapped it up there. I didnt worry as much about editing and blog design and such. Simpler times....
Posted by: Autum | January 07, 2011 at 09:19 AM
thanks Autum! I think I may try the tri-motion stitch - 2 stitches forward and one stitch back -- that seems to have a bit of give to it - and holds really well.

worst blogger award??? No way! Look you have 24 comments and you have not been around in forever. I blog every day, and I am lucky if I get one. We all stick around because you always offer so much inspiration.
I have been reading for about 3 years now, and I still love your blog, even if you are not as active!
