I'm having an extreme case of writer's block this morning as I sit here trying to produce some witty or at least interesting sentences about fabric flowers. Not happening. Witty conversation escapes me this Monday morning, but photos do not. I have photographic evidence of how I wasted the day away on Friday, happily making fabric flowers.
Some were fluffy and sweet for a pink loving toddler, while others were more grown-up and sophisticated.
Experimenting with different techniques...
Once I started, I couldn't stop.
A few action shots, a couple of pretties wearing the pretties.
They are almost instant gratification crafting, the kind I like best. I could do a tutorial, but they have been done. And done again. Just google singed fabric flower tutorial, that's what I did. I studied several different methods then combined them. For Bayleighs's headband, I tore and twisted and glued narrow strips of fabric to make frayed rosettes, again the method has been tuted to death. I just made up that word tuted, meaning made tutorial of, not to be confused with tooted which means something all together different.
I finished the back in a way that allows the flower to be worn in your hair using an alligator clip or slid onto a headband or worn on your clothes with a pin. I could show you that if you like. I don't think I've seen a tut on how to finish the back, although I haven't googled that one.
OK, so I'm off to do something other than make fabric flowers. Mitch had to dry off with two hand towels last night. Oops! Somebody was so busy playing in the sewing room, she forgot to do laundry.
Is that your daughter modeling the headband? She looks gorgeous w/ her dark hair against the blue flower...great combination! I've seen lots of tutes for these too, but haven't sat down to try it yet. That's on that long list of things to do when I have all that free time.

I frequently make up words while blogging. It's the only way to go. Pretty flowers :)

I made a bunch of those about a month ago - they are so fun aren't they...and you can't stop because there are so many variations :-) Love the headbands - I just put mine on bobby pins.

Oh, poor Mitch - that makes me think of the scene in Planes, Trains & Automobiles where Steve Martin dries off with a washcloth! LOL! We watch that movie every Thanksgiving!
The flowers are fantastic and modeled beautifully!
Take care!

These are lovely flowers, but I have to ask, how did you get the edges to curl like that it really adds to the overall look of the flowers, and your girls look like lovely little flowers themselves.

Hi Autum
these flowers are gorgeous - and yes do a tute on the backs - you're tutes are really good and easy to follow - hope the tutes I find on google on how to do the flowers are as easy as yours. BTW your daughter looks really well - haven't seen a photo of her for a while - lovely mother daughter shot.

I love the flowers! They are so cute and don't look to hard to do. I'm like you, I'll spend all my time crafting and neglect all my housework. :D

Hope all is well.

Autum, I know you feel these have been "tuted" to death, but your flowers are prettier than any I've seen tutorials for yet! I've just spent a little while looking at blogs after doing a google search like you recommended. YOurs are so much more full and "fluffier" than others I've seen and I'd love to know the basic method you used. You have such a beautiful daughter and granddaughter!
