I said I'd try to post every day. I didn't say I'd post early in the day. I nearly burried myself alive rearranging the sewing room today. I made progress, but didn't finish. You may remember, after Casey joined the Marines, I took over his room for a sewing room. It didn't take long for it to become the catch-all space. The layout just never seemed right. I'm trying something different. Will it be more condusive to creativity? That remains to be seen.
This is what my cutting table looked like before I started.
A mess! I hope I can share some pictures tommorow of an improved space.
I did manage to get a little fall on around here. Just a hint, but I'm surprised at how much I'm loving the addition of some orange sprinkled about.
Oh hey, remember that lamp?
I painted it orange to use in the guest room, but I don't mind if it hangs out here in the living room with the fall leaves and pumpkins for a while.
Love the lamp!! Turned out great!

I love the splashes of orange! And that lamp? Swoon!

I love my sewing room! But I've had so many projects going lately, that last night I had to stop everything and get a grip (put it back in order) so that I could concentrate on creating.
Where did you get the KEEP CALM AND SEW STUFF embroidery picture? Did you do it? LOVE IT!

I swear girl, I could move into your house. I'd feel right at home in your sewing room, mess and all! I'm slowly picking thru my cra(P)ft room....hoping to get it somewhat organized and useable before the cold winter months drive me inside.

Your sewing room looks like mine (in our basement)! I need to seriously get busy and clean it.
I love aqua and orange together. Very pretty Fall arrangements, too!

Hi Bev,
I know, its so easy for things to get crazy out of hand messy before I know it and I cant think when its like that, much less do anything creative.
I did the Keep Calm picture. It is machine embroidered and the design was found on Urban Stitches.

Hi Cindy!
Come on over. I have a spare room. But I have to warn you, its much, much worse than the sewing room. Im just going to say its decorated for halloween. It was ransacked by zombies. Thats my story.
And Im renaming the sewing room the cra(p)ft room. Its a much more accurate description. There is more crap in there than sewing. And sewing isnt the only thing I do. Sometimes I glue things with my glue gun in there too ; )
Have a great day!

Thanks Lera. I was pretty excited at how pretty that ugly duckling of a lamp turned out. I would have NEVER thought to add some orange into my decor, until I saw that bedroom photo I posted a while back. My plan is, to make some curtains for the spare bedroom in a modern looking print fabric, with orange background. I bought eight yards of Joel Dewberry fabric at a GREAT price thinking it was perfect. It came and although its beautiful fabric, its not quite what I had in mind. Its much more terracotta or rust than I expected and the antler print is very beige with yellow undertones. I wanted something that would look good against gray walls. Im not sure this does, but with 8 yards, its probably going to have to work.
Have a great day!

Thanks Elaine,
It surprised even me how pretty she looks in orange. I was a little worried buying paint. I didnt want something that looked like a construction cone. Even Mitch was impressed, and hes the real painter in the family : )

Your mantle is gorgeous! And I love the orange lamp!!! Your cutting table doesn't look nearly as bad as mine does on a bad day, I have a clutter problem, hoping I don't end up on hoarders one day lol

Tonya, I think that show hoarders has a lot of us rethinking about what we choose to keep. My aunt Mary who is in her late 70s is sewing like crazy these days trying to get rid of some of her accumulated fabric stash for fear that if something happens to her, her son will have to clean out her house.

It looks beautiful....it always does:)
P.S. I love your tips!

Loving the orange lamp!!! We had a few days of heavy rain and I got water in my craft room in the basement. More reason to rip up the carpeting and put something decent in!

There is carpet in my sewing room. BIG pain! Its a medium gray and shows every little piece of thread that falls. Taking it out really isnt an option though, its only a couple years old.

Oh for crying out loud! That lamp is FANTASTIC!!
Love the tidbit about Aunt Mary~ that reminds me of my Grandma D & Me!! I'm going to be the one going through all her stuff & I have too much, myself..sigh..
