Gratitude Friday this week comes to you from the sewing room. The sewing room I'm ever so grateful to have. I cleaned up the junk hole this week. Found the top of my cutting table, dusted off the sewing machine and actually sewed. And it felt good. Just like old times.
I made Bayleigh's Halloween costume- not entirely from scratch, so I guess you'd call it semi-homemade.
The hat and the t-shirt were purchased, I added the little extras. The tutu is a no sew version. Just cut and tie the tulle onto a length of ribbon or elastic. Easy! There are many tutorials online for doing this, the only thing I did differently was double up the tulle to make it extra poofy. I don't think it's showing up in the photo, but every fourth section of tulle is glittery, giving it a little sparkle.
I found the design for the machine embroidery/applique here. Inspired by this sweet shirt.
I made a couple of flowers to dress up the plain black hat and a matching one for her shirt.
She has purple and black stripey tights to keep her little legs warm and finish off her witchy ensemble. I hope she likes it as much as I do.
Adorable. Make sure you post a picture of her in it.

It's darling! I helped my daughter make a Dorothy costume last night for one of The Little Loves, her sister will be Toto:)
We learned that we are very pattern impaired:(

Im not crazy about following patterns either. I hate cutting out the most. Im sure Bayleigh will have her turn at being Dorothy too, in the future. Her mama loves The Wizard of Oz. She used to dress her self up as Dorothy and watch it when she was little.
Have a lovely weekend!

Hi Elaine! Thanks for the inspiration.
The font for her name is called Party Time. I use a program called Monogram Wizard Plus to do names or monograms, it has lots of fonts to choose from, but I probably use this one the most.
Enjoy your Saturday!!

Hello Teresa and thank you! Don't apologize for your English, there is no way I could write to you in Portuguese. I'm so impressed with people who can communicate in a language that isn't native to them.
I hope you have a wonderful day!!
