I've been stripping again, and unfortunately, no twenty dollar bills were slipped in the waist band of my granny panties while I was at it.
The table from hell strikes again! The polyurethane topcoat didn't harden (I"m sure the 90% humidity had nothing to do with it) and scratched if you looked at it. No joke, I could scratch it off with my fingernail. I didn't get too upset, because truth be told, I wasn't completely in love with it anyway. Am I fickle or what?
I am ready for autumn. I love summer and am so glad we were able to slip in a late beach trip last week. But I'm over it. Enough summer. Enough humidity. Enough 90+ degree weather.
We had a great time. It was as bright and sunny as any time I've been in July. I loved it, but fickle me says be gone summer. 95 degrees in late September is just wrong.
One more random unrelated bit. I hit a few thrift stores this week and found some goodies. I always look for white dishes and this was my lucky day.
I also picked up this lamp.
Not too cute in this state, but it will look quite handsome orange. ORANGE? Did I just say orange? Yep, and I'm not talking about halloween decor. I'm thinking my guest room would like a pop of color. A little something like this.
I'd say that's enough random jabber for one day. Have a lovely weekend folks! I may be back later to share the progress of my stripping. Completely G rated, I promise!
I 100% agree with you!!!!
It is supposed to be a high of 81 today and 89 tomorrow!!!
Where is the crisp autumn chill?!?!?
Can't wait to see that lamp orange!!
P.S. That room is beautiful!!! like a little oasis!!!
Happy Friday!!!

Love, love your opening to this post! Good one!!
I, too, am so over Summer! I can't wait for it to actually FEEL like Fall. Enough 100 degree days!!
Love the idea for the orange lamp. I know it will be beautiful!
Glad you all had a good last hurrah at the beach :)
Take care!

I think I heard them say on the local news weve had 90 days of 90 degree weather. Blech!! 81 would feel chilly around here. We are still in the mid 90s. Its even warm over night.
That room is beautiful isnt it? I dont normally like orange, but it works so well with that aqua. Ive already painted the lamp and cant wait to get it in the room. First I need to spend about 16 hours in there cleaning. I have two adult children who think all the things they dont want to get rid of, but dont want to take home should stay in Moms extra bedroom.

Hi there! I've been following your blog for a while but never got around to commenting on anything... until now! I wonder which thrift store you found that adorable domed stand? That's fantastic! I, too, am ready for this ridiculous heat. The trees know it's fall. Walking around NCSU's campus at work, I keep getting surprised by these weird objects falling from the sky only to discover it's the leaves!! Anyway, love your blog. Take care!

Hi Autum,
Like Heather, I've been following your blog and have commented only a couple of times, but just had to tell you that the "granny panties" cracked me up! That's what I've called them for years. And I love summer for about a month, then I'm so ready for cool weather. I'm in NC too and this heat is killing me.
So glad you got to get away before the cold sets in. If it ever does! :o)
Have a great day!

Hello Heather,
I live about 30 minutes from Fayetteville, so I normally hit the Goodwill and Salvation Army and a place called Hope Harbor. The little domed piece actually came separate. The bottom portion is a candle holder and came from the Salvation Army store. The top piece came with a different base from a thrift store called Tammys Treasures (or something like that) in Hope Mills.
A close family friend is in his second year at NCSU. I think Casey, my son has several friends attending school there. Its usually a degree or two cooler your way than it is here. Maybe youll be feeling more fall like soon.
Thanks for commenting!!

Hi Karen,
Another NC girl! Where abouts?
Hasnt this been the longest, hottest summer ever?? Im always so glad to see it come and just about as happy to see it go. This year is especially true.
I think we are supposed to see at least 80 degree temps next week. Brrr......
Have a great weekend!

Hey Joni!
Yep, still striping at 42. Whod have thunk? As far as holding up, well, thats another story. Up doesnt exactly describe it, thanks to gravity : )
We had a wonderful time at the beach. It was perfectly hot beach weather, but it was so laid back since school is back in, mostly old folks (like us). wink wink.
Hows your little man doing? I hope you are getting lots of chances to spoil him like only a grandma can!

Hi Sharly!
Glad you liked that. My kind of stripping just never seems to be profitable. Go figure!
We loved being at the beach in September. We were a little worried when we first made reservations that it may be too cool to enjoy the pool, who knew summer was gong to last till Christmas : )
Have a great weekend!

Hot here too! Had to turn the AC back on after a few nice days, chilly nights and wonderful breezes from all directions.
Baliegh looks like she was so enjoying her ice-cream. She is so beautiful!!!
I started putting up my fall stuff but slower at it this year.

Autum,
You are hilarious!
I'm with you about the three H's --- hazy, hot and humid. I'm so done with 'em.
Glad to know you're feeling well enough to tackle the table once again. You go girlfriend! Looking forward to the results of the new table.
Peace.

Hi Elaine,
We are supposed to get some closer to fall like temps by Sunday. Low 80s instead of 90s. It will be welcome.
Bayleigh does love ice cream. Thank you! I think shes a cutie, even if I am biased : )

I'm near Greensboro, and we're supposed to have a low temp of 62 in the morning with rain!! I can't tell you how excited I am about that. :o) I'm trying to decide what to wear to church in the morning.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Hugs,
Karen
