I'm dangerous behind the wheel of this blog, I tell ya. No license,
no proper teaching... I just feel my way around blindly and hope for
the best.
I'm probably not telling you anything you didn't already know, but
just in case, I'll share what I did. If you have no idea what I'm
talking about, let me first catch you up. A couple of posts back, I
asked a question about responding to comments. I like the interactive
nature of responding right there in the comment section, as I've seen
done on other blogs. Many times a response to one person may answer
another person's question. The only reservation I had about replying
this way was that it would require the person commenting to check back
to see if I have responded. I suspected there was something in
typepad's settings that would allow the responses to appear in the
comments section but also be emailed to the commenter. I suspected
right, and here's how to make it happen.
From the dashboard in Typepad, under the "manage my blogs" heading on the right side of the screen, select "settings", on the next screen on the left side of the page select "comments". Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is an option to enable Typepad Connect comments. Select that. Then you can choose from options about how the comments are displayed (threaded or not). Save your changes.
That's it.
Now if you get email notification of comments, the email will look a little different. When you select "reply" your response will be emailed and will also appear in your comments directly under the original comment. You can still reply privately by clicking on the email link in the comment notification email.
Hope that makes sense.
Happy that you got this all down...it can get crazy here in BLOGLAND!!! Hang in there...we are all learning new things too! Hope you have a wonderful day:)
Blessings,
Linda

Hi there,
I'm thinking of leaving blogspot and coming over to typepad. I had a question and thought another typepad-er could help. In order to custom your layout, design, font and such do you have to be a paying member?
take care,
Lisa

I think tyepad has a free plan but in order to do any customization you have to go with the pro plan. For 8.95/ month you have a lot of customization options. If you want more control using custom CSS you have to upgrade to the 14.95/month plan, but I think you get plenty of design options with the 8.95 plan. They have templates you can select from or you they make it pretty easy to design your own.
When I first started blogging, it seemed like the nicest looking blogs (of those I read) were typepad users. I have noticed lately that the blogspot blogs are looking really good. I dont know about their prices or how easy it is to do your own customization. I will say when I try to find online tips or tutorials, typepad ones are hard to come by, tips for blogspot users seem plentiful.
Hope this helps!

HI, Autumn, thank you for stopping by, so nice to meet you. I think this is the first time I've been by here. See, I really can't keep up! I loved reading all the comments about blogging & balance. Thanks for sharing yours.
And you really don't look like a Nana at all!

I use Blogger and I agree that it's come a long way. With that being said, I can't figure out how to make this comment thingie work on Blogger and I'm coming up with no useful results doing web searches/Blogger searches either. :P
Glad you figured it out for typepad!

Does Blogger offer support where you can submit a question? Ive used typepads support in the past and have been pleased with their response. You may try that route.

Thank you Rhoda. I really did enjoy your post on balance, something Ive been trying to achieve for as long as I can remember. Not just in blogging, but life in general. Its an ongoing pursuit with some days being better than others and blogging just adds another element to the mix.
Keep up the good work you do!
