I was feeling a little like a slug and quite sure I had accomplished nearly nothing in 2008, creatively, that is. Taking a look back at my photos, I was pleasantly surprised to find I did more sewing than I thought. Of course, I knew it was a very busy year with many changes for our family. We welcomed a new member and grieved the loss of one we would never know. We celebrated as one completed a journey and set out on another. Somewhere along the way I turned 40. It was a year of some of my happiest days and also some of my saddest. It was a year of loving, laughing, growing, and learning. As a whole, 2008 was a very good year.
**Edited to add a few words about flickr. If you can upload photos onto your computer, you can use flickr. You just have to register an account. A basic account is free, but has a limit on the number of photos you can upload. I'm not sure the # I think it's 80. You can purchase a pro account allowing you unlimited uploads. I've found it to be like blogging, learn as you go. You will find all sorts of fun things to do with your photos, like the mosaic above, by going here.
Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope it's a good one.

What wonderful pictures. And a great way to look back over the year. (I am still trying to figure flickr out -- I really want to learn how to make one of those photo collages.)

You have accomplished a lot...and inspiried many of us, not only by the things that you have made, but by the strength that you have had to make it through last year. Thank you.

Yes, you did LOTS in 2008. You made those cute little dresses and that inspired me to go and buy the Vogue pattern and make 2 for me - one in brown and one in green. And you showed us some beautiful pictures of your gorgeous Bayleigh that made us all smile and coo. And you told us the story of Casey's enlistment, which made us feel both proud and sad for you. See, you've inspired and moved us by sharing your stories. Thanks!

Autum,
I meant to stop in sooner to wish you a happy 2009 - but small children can sometimes delay good intentions. I read your last post about your son and what you are going through while he is at boot camp. My brother-in-law is a Marine (now out) and much of what you describe sounds familiar (though I haven't experienced it as a mother.) This is such a difficult time for recruits and their families but you do have a wonderful experience to look forward to: the graduation from boot camp is amazing. My husband and I travelled from CT down to Parris Island to attend and it was worth every second of the two day drive. I cried through the whole thing and was amazed by the amount of respect and congratulations the graduates experience on that day. I hope you find comfort in your family during the new year and thank so much for sharing with us!
