I finished the cushion experience, and yes folks, it was an experience. A learning experience from beginning to end. So many lessons learned! The first being, think twice before agreeing to take on such a large task. After thinking twice, think once more. If after thinking twice + once more, I still agree to take on such a large task, consider the time I think it may take and double it, then add a week or so, just to be sure I have enough time set aside each day to do little things like eat, sleep and bathe.
.
I'm doing a lot of talking about me and the job I took on, but the truth is, Mitch worked just as hard and just as long as I. He did nearly all the cutting, he inserted the foam, made covered buttons and tufted the cushions. His dad put in several hours holding cushions as Mitch tufted and my aunts, Mary and Pat volunteered for deconstruction duty when several had to be redone. It was a group effort and I'm so thankful for such a great group of helpers.
It wasn't all cushions all the time since my last post. Almost. Maybe more like all cushions 98% of the time. Can you tell I'm burnt-out on cushions? Bayleigh enjoyed her first Halloween. She and my niece Julie were flower fairies.
Alyssa put together their costumes. She followed this tut to make Julie's fairy skirt and also made their headbands. I was quite proud of her craftiness.
Have you ever seen as cute a fairy?
Alyssa is still having weekly ultrasounds to monitor Olivia. The last two have shown a slight increase in the amount of fluid accumulating in her body, but her little heart beats strong. We know that whatever happens, it is a part of God's plan, even though it's difficult for us to understand. This little angel came into our lives for a reason and I pray that I will be able to hold her in my arms, for now I hold her in my heart.
AMAZING! And so professional.
Alyssa should be proud of the costumers. Too cute!

Those flower fairy costumes are so cute! Bayleigh just gets more adorable, the older she gets : )
I can't believe you did all of those cushions! What a crazy huge job! I hope you aren't completely burnt out on sewing. I love the picture of Bayleigh *helping* you sew, sha baby!
I am still praying for baby Olivia, I don't know if you have heard of this website, but it may be something that will help Alyssa. This mother went through something similar and she talks candidly of how God has gotten her through it. http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/ I wasn't sure if I should share or not, because this baby girl went to be with the Lord, so maybe you should look at it first to see if it would help Alyssa or not.

Bayleigh is so adorable! She is growing up so big. What a big helper she is to you. I know you can't wait to teach her how to sew.
May God continue to hold sweet Baby Olivia in his hands.

That is one cute fairy princess.
I am thinking of Olivia. It is hard to understand what God has in store for us. I lost triplet boys and sometimes I still do not understand. I will keep hoping and praying for sweet Olivia and her family.

Hi! I'm new to your blog and I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for the tutorials on your sidebar! I needed to know how to make a zippered pocket for the lining of a purse I'm making, and you had EXACTLY what I was looking for. My Mom had tried to explain it, but seeing your pictures along with the instructions were priceless. I have to say it turned out really well! I'll be posting pics on my blog soon with references to you if you want to take a look. So again, thank you!
I can't imagine taking on a huge project like those cushions. I just sew for fun and when people ask me to make something for them, I have to think about it first because they usually have no idea what that "something" will actually entail! You did a great job on the cushions and I'm sure the church will appreciate them so much.
One last thing, I know this has been a book! I'll be praying for little Olivia often. I'm a RN in the newborn nursery so I see sad situations often. But, I've also been witness to God's healing hand many times! His will is perfect and she will be healed. Maybe not on this earth, but that is not for us to decide. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Great job on the cushions Autum. And Alyssa did a great job on the costumes. Like mother, like daughter-pure talent. Love the flower garland on Bayleigh. So cute. Keep us posted on Olivia. She's in my prayers.

I just cringed when I saw the amount of work that those cushions would involve. Isn't it funny how an offer to help out can turn into a nightmare? And weren't you lucky you had some help. Those little fairy costumes are just too cute, I wish I'd done that for my girls when they were little. My heart goes out to you and your daughter, I just can't imagine what you're going through.

Prayers for Olivia~ and your family...your niece & granddaughter are just adorable in their costumes.

I want to hide just looking at work! I will keep your daughter in my prayers. It sounds like she has a lot of love and support around her and that is very important.

Oh, I'm so glad you're back posting again. I'm sure you are VERY happy to be done with the cushions. Yes yes!
I checked in almost daily to see if you were back posting and was happy to see that you are. Yay for you!!
Baby Olivia is still in my thoughts and prayers.
The flower fairies looked AWESOME!! I bet they loved those outfits. My daughter was a fairy princess, she loved it with her whole heart!

was wondering how Alissa and baby were doing. Still saying lots of prayers that her story turns out just as successful as the others. I can not imagine the agony and stress she must be going through wondering how her child is doing.
Have they given her any indication if they will deliver early?

Holy Cow!! That's HUGE job!!! Aren't you glad that's over? The costumes turned out beautiful! And yes Bayliegh is the cutest fairy ever.
I'm praying for baby Olivia. My neice Olivia was born three weeks ago with four holes in her heart. It's difficult to imagine what mom and dad are going t hrough. But my prayers are with them.

I know you are glad to have that behind you! I know you were grateful for all the helpers, what a blessing! As for the two little flower fairies, they are absolutely adorable!!!!!! Now a quick question from one not so accomplished seamstress to an expert(you) I am looking for an easy apron pattern, that is vintage looking, but not complicated. My daughter is wanting me to help( make ) some for Christmas gifts, and I have got to get rolling on this soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The pictures of your girls are fantastic! I have to say that the cushions will be loved and appreciated by so many people for so many years - I am sure that you will win the cushion angel (or perhaps fairy?) prize.
