I feel much too young to be called granny, but in seven months I'm going to be one. I'd love to hear what your grandchildren call you or what you call your mama's mama. Some suggestions I've made that have been shot down include Sweetie and Veronica. Veronica you ask? Why not? I get to choose a new name for myself, it may as well be a cute one.
A little disclaimer, for those who may not get my strange sense of humor, I'm joking about Veronica- but it is a great name isn't it?
My mother was 39 when my sister had her first child. She said she was too young to be a grandmother or nana so she is Mimi.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be a wonderful "Veronica" or whatever you decide to be called. I can't wait to see all the baby things you make!

My own parents have very convential names, but my Aunt is called Polly after her last name Pollock, and a family friend felt just the same as you and invented the name 'Mo' for herself. I love invented Nana names, they're very special.
And congratulations. The circumstances are none of my business, but a new baby is always a precious blessing.

My mother is Mawmaw, another grandmother in the family is Grammer, and my aunt and uncle are Oma and Opa. In every case, the eldest grandchild named THEM!

I'm hoping this is joyous? My mom said a few months ago (not that she wants grandchildren right now at all, well she does, but she wants my sister and I to do a lot more before we have children!) that she'd like to be called by a nickname of her name maybe? So you could be called Aut?

Congratulations! My children call my mother Mimi (well, only one is talking so far) because she didn't want to be Grammy or Grandma. But I love what my friend's children call their grandmother - her name is Connie so they call her Coco. It makes me think of a "glamorous grandmother"! Good luck!

How exciting. We call dh's mom, Bestemor, which is Norwegian for grandma. That might be a fun twist to find a foreign name. Congratulations.

I had the same post. Now I have a 6 month old grandaughter. :) We go by Nina and Nino. My grandmother was called Nana.
It's funny how important this new name is. Good luck.

My mom and MIL are both Mimis, and I think I like that. I like Nana, too. My great-grandmother was called Mamo, which was pronounced "Mam-maw". She was a Louisianan. Her counterpart, of course, was Papo (Pap-paw). I feel nostalgic about those names, but they also sound old to me.
I like the creative nicknames best. My friend Beth is called "Betts" by her grandbaby. She said that will probably stick.

I have a friend whose granddaughter calls her Ya Ya. She says that it is Greek for grandmother.
I do not have any kids yet but my daughter already has my grandmother name picked out. My real name is Mindy. My daughter calls me mom. She wants her future kids to call me Momdy. *grins* I really like that.

Oh! And you are going to be a fun wonderful grandmommy!
