I didn't mean to be away so long. Some days just seem to run together with the same routine and I don't really feel inspired to post. I need to work on that.
Today I'm very inspired. I have pretty things to share and pretty people to thank.
I was so excited to get this sweet valentine in the mail. I was excited and mad at myself for not being kind and thoughtful like LLA. Alyssa saw this and said, "that's so nice, did you send her one?" When I sheepishly said no, she said "some friend you are." I really need to work on that too. Thank you, LLA, the BFC representing the ATL.
Another sweetie is Monica, the Happy Zombie. She organized a potholder swap that I was thrilled to be able to participate in and lucky enough to be paired with Monica herself. My package of goodies arrived today and let me say, Monica is a very talented seamstress. These potholders (she sent not one, but two) are like mini quilts. They are so beautiful.
Can you see those perfect little quilting stitches? My favorite color, aqua!!
I wish Monica could teach me how to do binding so neatly. Little works of art, aren't they?
In addition to the potholders she included some other fun stuff.
More yo-yo making ammunition. Thank you Monica, this was a fun swap. Oh, I almost forgot about the recipe. She sent a recipe for sweet cornbread. Cornbread is a favorite around here. Casey will thank you too Monica.
This didn't come in the mail, I made it. Thanks to this tutorial Beki so generously posted. Thank you Beki for the clear and thorough tutorial, I'll be making lots of these.
I've found that a circle cut from timtex makes a great back for fabric flowers. I fused fabric onto the timtex, cut two slits for the pin to slip through and glued it onto the back of the flower with hot glue.
I just thought of something else I wanted to share. I went to Jo-Ann tonight and got some great deals on some clearance items. The lady at the cutting counter told me they were doing inventory and would have more things on clearance. I assume this would be at all Jo-Ann stores. If you need quilting rulers, they are marked way down. I got several in different sizes that were $2.97 each.
One last thing, I promise. I thought this was a great story.
