Don't be fooled by all that crazy food talk, I'm not giving up sewing for more time in the kitchen. I was back in the saddle full swing today. I've got lots of catching up to do so me and my sewing machine are going to be one for the rest of the week.
Brandon has been waiting so patiently for this. I made a back-pack purse for his mom and he wanted his own book bag. He requested a Teletubby bag but mom thought something neutral might be better (in case next month he decides Teletubbies aren't his favorite anymore). I hope I was able to please them both.
He is going to love the teletubby pockets! You did good!

You did do good - this bag is way too cool to get shelved prematurely if/when he decides the Teletubbies aren't "it" anymore...
I love the ticking stripe drawstring - and what is the fabric for the body? It looks all sueded and lovely...
(I was proudly showing off my backpack from you again today. Even after all this time, the novelty has not worn off and I still love it, and it still gets rave reviews...)

Wow you are really wonderful at that bag action! So professional.

Is that a bought pattern or did you make the design your self? I really like the style. I have a pattern that calls for a zipper in the straps to make it one or two. I haven't tried it yet though.

The backpack is great and I think it's a good compromise meeting both of their wishes.

Oh man, my son LOVES the "teles". Where did you find the fabric?

Autum, AS Always, you have out done yourself. Your sewing gets me fired up! I am with you, the kitchen can be cool, but set me up behind the machine and I am one happy girl!! Your quilting is always to die for! I just got a new quilting machine. Once I get a chance to play with it, maybe I can improve. Free handing on my own, is not working!!

What a clever compromise :)
I'm sure he'll love his back-pack!

That is awesome. I go to church with Wendy and Brandon is my Children's church group and he is a wonderful kid. He loves my husband to death and we think the world of him. I can only imagine his face when he saw his backpack. I know you blessed his heart!

Very cute! I'm sure Brandon will love it, and I'm sure mother knows best.

What a cute bag, Autum! Do you use a store-bought pattern, or did you make it up yourself? I think mom and Brandon will both be really happy.

Love the backpack, is there a drawstring, how does it lie so flat? i tried to make one from a sweater the other day ( http://peitseoga.blogspot.com/2007/01/recycling-some-practice-projects.html ) but i didn't get the drawstring part right i think, and i didn't do a flap because it wouldn't have been right with the bunched drawstringed material... i'd be interested in the pattern too!
