Just a random post about random stuff since I have no one exciting thing to post about. Hmmm...you know, that's what this blog is supposed to be anyway. Just my random everyday-ness. I didn't start this to wow anyone. It was for me, a way of recording what it is I do everyday. Even if I happen to do not much of anything. Then something happened. People commented, I made friends. I liked it. Still, I was as likely to post a silly post about my dogs as something new I'd sewn. Then more people commented. Some folks didn't comment but emailed to say they really enjoyed reading my blog... they found inspiration in reading about things I had made. Really? Me? (looking around and behind me) are you talking to me? I can't believe anyone finds inspiration here, but if they do I surely don't want to disappoint by posting about grocery shopping or doing laundry. The truth is I don't feel all that inspirational, I mostly feel inspired and awed by others and oh so inadequate. I've found myself unable to post because I didn't think I had anything blog worthy. Well that's just wrong. Time to rethink things and get back to my original intent.. to record the everyday, even if my everyday is boring and mundane. Today's bit of random and mundaneness is actually not so everyday for our house. A picture of the cake I enjoyed as an afternoon snack. Cake I made this morning. Did you catch that? CAKE I made this morning. I don't do that. Me, make cake for no reason? Heck, I don't often make cake when there is a reason. I don't know what came over me, but I made a cake for my family to enjoy.
Doesn't my cake look lovely sitting on my new vintage table cloth I won on ebay? I was so pleasantly surprised with this purchase. When you buy something, especially something vintage, based on a photo alone you can't be sure what you'll end up with. This was in perfect condition and could not be a better match for my kitchen. Happy, happy, joy, joy!! (LLA, you have that stuck in my head now)
Next bit of randomness. Does anyone else have trouble with randomness? I can't tell you how long it took me to randomly place these squares of fabric to make it look random. How silly is that?
Lastly, Alyssa wants to re-do her room. For those of you who have been reading for a while this may sound familiar. Yes she just redid her room when she came home from school. Mind you, it hasn't looked very did or done since that picture was taken. Yes Alyssa, I'm telling the world your room is a mess! She has been "going" to clean it for months but it can't be today because "I have to go here. Can't do it this weekend because I have to work." Now the plan is a redo, and from the looks of her plans no minor redo. According to her, it will be done mostly with things she already has or with things she can make. This is what she presented me with last night.
Should I be bursting with pride or scared to death of the monster I've created? A little of both I think...
