I've not been a very good blogger this week. I don't know what happened, but I just haven't felt inspired to post. It's not that I haven't been sewing. I have. Lots. I guess nothing I've been sewing has been particularly exciting or blog worthy. More tutu bags, four in all, and some purses that seem sort of been there, done that-ish. (Reading that back, that sounds bad. I didn't mind making these. At all. Just eager to try some new stuff. )
This purses in the top row of pictures were commissioned as gifts. I had serious reservations when she requested brown and orange. Serious reservations. In the end I think this interpretation of orange and brown worked nicely. The blue and white in the patchwork bag were chosen because those are the colors of the recipients sorority. Then there were the tutu bags...they are a lot like cotton candy, a bite or two is really good but any more than that you get that feeling that starts in the back of your throat and it makes it hard to swallow. Sugar overload. I am itching to make something I want to make. Something new, something I've not done before. Oh well... maybe next week when I get caught up.
The one thing I made this week that I really enjoyed was packaged and shipped without being photographed. What is wrong with me? It was for Anna. Recently she posted that she would love to have a collection of placemats made by her internet friends. She offered one of her lovely bird prints in exchange for one placemat. I said "count me in". The perfect swap, I get to make something fun and also receive a beautiful print. Win, win.
While cruising the isles at Hobby Lobby this week I was intrigued by an interactive CD, Crochet Made Easy. I had a 40% off coupon so I decided to give it a try. So far I can do a chain stitch, that's a start right? I haven't given up on learning to knit, but maybe crochet will be a little easier for me to coordinate. Only one needle for my fumble fingers to control. The yarn shop where I had the knitting lesson is offering a beginning crochet class this month. I'll feel a little better going into that class, not quite so green. Mitch wonders when I'm going to sign up for a cooking class. Now there's a hobby he'd love to see me get into. Ha! Not going to happen. There are only so many hours in a day....
