Made by the hands of Lori for the World Wristlet Swap. Being from Kansas, the blue in the wristlet represents the wide open sky, yellow for the wheat they grow to feed the world and their state flower the sunflower. The brown is for the rich Kansas soil. The ribbon drawstring is antique seam binding from her grandmother's sewing box. Lori also made me this collaged hook board to hang my wristlet from. It looks perfect in my kitchen and provides a needed place to hang my apron.
It was all so nicely packaged along with some yummy dark chocolate, a note pad and pen and beaded bracelets. Thank you Lori. This was a fun swap and I'm so glad I participated. Thanks Kelli for organizing it. Check out the other creative wristlets here.
Maddy is still sick. He can't keep any liquid in him and it's breaking my heart. He's in my lap as I type this, where he's been spending most of his time.
We were back at the vet early this morning because of the loss of liquids from both ends. Diagnosis: stomach bug. He doesn't feel it's related to the fall and prescribed antibiotics, pepto bismol, tiny sips of pedialyte and rest. I pray he starts to feel better soon. Things around here are at a standstill for me as long as he's feeling so poorly. I know he's a puppy and not a baby, but my heart aches for him just the same. How did this unexpected and uninvited little fur ball so quickly make himself right at home in my heart? In the midst of all this, Mitch and Casey shampooed the carpet so half of my living room is in the kitchen, my closet contents are scattered in several rooms and the top of my bed is covered with, I don't even know what's in that pile of stuff. LLA, my sewing machine remains idle, I just can't concentrate and I know any work I do will likely not be good. Soon. Thank you so much for all your kind comments and well wishes for Madden. I haven't responded to all of you yet, but I will. Maybe tomorrow we'll both be back on track and I can share a picture of a perky pup. Say a little prayer.
Awwww....poor little baby! I have been watching out for my complaining about our new puppy this week since reading your story about Madden. I had to laugh when you said your husband cleaned carpets! We did the same on Sunday and Monday and I still don't have the house all put back together.
I have been so busy, canning and freezing (so as not to waste the garden stuff!) and getting ready for my daughter's visit, she arrives Saturday. Been trying to do sort of a "spring cleaning" since that hadn't been done around here yet this year! It usually takes a guest coming to stay to get me motivated enough to put out all the little "fires"...in other words all the little piles of stuff here and there that shouldn't be in certain places; like on her old bed! Although I don't think of my daughter as a guest, exactly, I still want to put my best foot forward...so busy, busy, busy is what I must be!
I said a little prayer for Madden, I know God cares about our cares, and your care right now is that dear little pup. Thanks for the update!

That is one cute frame with hooks thingy. I have no idea where to hang my own new apron from!
That picture of Madden is so sad. She looks sick and has this colorful cast on, but is oblivious to the fun of a signed cast. Poor puppy. I hope she feels better soon.

Oh - such a mixed bag of news...
I am so glad that Lori's package got to you, I think you needed a pick-me-up! I'm off to visit her next and tell how lovely I think the wristlets turned out. And what a fabulous, fabulous, fabulous idea the hook board is! Love it...
So, so, so sorry to hear about little Mr Madden! He's having a tough time of it. Alyssa is going to be so surprised when she gets back from the beach and finds out he's not her dog any more. He may have been a present to her, but *you've* been adopted. You're mommy now...
Sending happy puppy thoughts your way. Take care of the baby....

Poor little puppy.
(And his cast is cuter than mine.)

That little pup pulls at my heart strings and he's not even mine. I really hope he picks up soon.

I love the "handmade goodness" - especially since there's a story to some of the pieces.
I'm sorry for your puppy! Not fun for you OR him...

Praying for you and Madden both. Sending hugs, too.

I hope the little pup gets better. He's having a hard time, isn't he? I've been wanting a summer bag, even now that summer is almost over, and I've made several for others. I think it's time for a wristlet for me! BTW, where can I find how to get involved in some of this cool stuff? I love swaps and I'm always a day late on sign ups.

So, so, so, so GLAD that you liked your swap. (And so releived that it goes with your decor. I guess my monitor colors are okay.)
Nothing but good vibes are coming to little Madden. Poor guy! I hate taking pepto! I can't imagine trying to give it to a puppy.

Hope your puppy gets better soon. They are so pitiful when they are not well. My little schnauzer was attacked a while back and it took a good week for her to get perky again, so I know how you feel.
