I wonder when gift giving began. Who was the first person to freely give something to another person just for the enjoyment it would bring the recipient. There is that saying it is better to give than to receive. Children may not agree but as adults it is far more exciting at Christmas to watch the children delight in opening their gifts than to open our own. Don't get me wrong I love getting presents, but I also love giving them. How wonderful it must feel to be Oprah and be able to give an entire audience a car. Recently I was browsing etsy and I happened upon a shop that had PIF items. What is that I wondered. PIF? So I read the item description and it was a pay it forward item. From what I can tell someone did something nice for someone else and she wanted to continue the kindness so she listed an item in her shop for a dime but said to keep the dime and even the shipping was free. The only catch was that you in turn had to do the same. List and item for free or do some other act of kindness. Read about it here. What a neat idea. Then today I found AfricanKelli. She has started something she calls calculated acts of kindness CAOC. How nice is that? Well you know me. Or maybe you don't know me but anyway I don't like to be left out of something fun. So I am jumping in there with them. Call me a copy cat. I don't care. I want to also pay it forward or practice calculated acts of kindness. And funny just as I have been thinking about how to start my little conga line of kindness I get my own little bit of kindness in the mail from the pregnant bionic woman herself Beki. I sent her a hand full of buttons and a little ribbon and in return she sent me a box full of beauty.
All this for a hand full of buttons! Thank you Beki you are too kind and really you have got to get some rest! She sent me a sweet little pin cushion that I needed badly. A fantastic framed fabric card, a fabulous fabric flower, and some lovely floral fabric. How many f's can one sentence hold? To pass along her kindness I am going to make something with the fabric and pass it along in some way. Not sure how yet but I am very excited. Want to join me?
Also in the mail today was this from Cia's. It felt like today was my birthday!
I see so many purse combinations here. I can't wait!! More bike purses to come for those of you who said you wanted one.
I read those things too and am thinking about them! Love the fabrics!

I'm curious to hear what you have in mind. I really enjoy getting gifts but there is also something heart warming & special about giving gifs that I enjoy too.
I had to laugh at the bionic women line..

Bionic woman - Pulheeze!! If you'd see me hobble around the house or hear me groan as I turn over in bed you wouldn't be thinking those thoughts.
I'm really glad that you liked the items I sent. When I get though my to-do list I think I'll join you on calculated acts of kindness. I think that's a wonderful idea.

I love both of those ideas - calculated acts of kindness and PIF. There isn't enough kindness and sweetness in this world. Seriously, the smallest kindness can change someone's day!

Wow! Thanks so much for mentioning this. I hope you've found CAOK rewarding. It seems since I've started this little campaign, I've been overwhelmed by the kindness of others in return.
