What am I grateful for this week? Humm... I am grateful for lots of things. In general I feel like I am a person who is aware and appreciative of the fact that though I may have some challenges in my life I am a really blessed person. So I will list here a few of the blessings that come to mind this morning.
- Always family but just a few specifics: Mitch, my sweetie I love his sense of humor. He makes me laugh every day. Alyssa I am grateful for the fact that you have been such a pleasure to raise. I could elaborate but that would be a different post. For today I'll just say thank you for being you. I am so proud of you! Casey, I am grateful for your humor too. It isn't always funny to me but I am glad you are a person who likes to laugh. I am also grateful for your intelligence. One day you will realize just how bright you are.
- Sweetened iced tea. Hey I am a southern girl.
- Spray paint. I love the stuff and I'll paint anything! One day I'll list some of the things I have painted around here.
- Carbohydrates. Forget the low carb diet for me. I love all things carb. Couldn't live with out potatoes, pasta and bread.
- My rotary cutter. I am terrible with scissors but I love that rotary cutter!
- Scented candles. I love it when the house smells good. But I like the clean smelling ones like linen or clean cotton not florals.
- DVR- did I mention that last week? What did I do before this invention?
- Kelli my sister from another mama. My partner in crime. We were cut from the same cloth I tell ya!
- Erica my sister from my mama- we aren't as close as I would like because we are so different but I love her dearly and we have each other's back.
By the way, those items are listed in no particular order.
To have a picture to post here is another corner of my home that I love. I spent a lot of time in this corner in August. It is Alyssa's room. Her going away to college was like having my heart ripped right out of my chest and I spent a lot of time in there missing her. I am doing much better now. It wasn't this clean when she occupied it on a daily basis. We decorated it together. It was a family effort. She picked out the fabric and I made the bedding. Her dad cut out the wood for the canopy thing. I stapled fabric to it and he mounted it. Alyssa chose the wall color and her boyfriend at the time painted the walls. He was an excellent painter, the one positive in that relationship.
The chandelier was an ugly brass fixture I bought for almost nothing on eBay. The shipping was more than the light. I spray painted it white and hung the crystals on it. Alyssa is a very girly girl and has LOTS of girly girl stuff. Rollers, makeup, nail polish etc. She needed a vanity but not one of those pretty little things with a single drawer. So I purchased these two cabinet things for like $40.00 a piece from wal mart and the previously mentioned boyfriend made a bridge thing to join the two. I stapled the fabric skirt to it to hide the electric cords and stuff and also covered the stool in the same fabric. The mirror was a $10.00 mirror from wal mart. I think it was gold. More spray paint. I wasn't kidding when I said I would paint anything.
One more view. The chair in the corner used to be wood and was covered in a very stained very ugly green velvet. You guessed it. More spray paint and some fabric and a staple gun. Oh I should have said I was thankful for my staple gun. There's always next week. Anyway this is an old picture because now that chair is in my room and is black. Covered in light blue toile.
Here is the chair as it is now. Look to the right side of the bed.
OK, I've spent enough time on this post. I may be back later with some pictures of things I've painted. It would be interesting to see just how many things there are.
