How many times can you start a post and delete it? I think must be going for some record here. If I could organize my thoughts I do have a few little things I could blog about. Sort of a what I did over the holiday break... you know, like you used to write in grade school. What I didn't do was finish my to-do list or bake those cookies. The sun came up Christmas morning all the same. Everything about this holiday season has been understated for me, the decorating, the shopping, the commitments, all scaled way back. Some of it I liked, some of it not so much. I felt a little sad seeing our house and yard barely dressed for the season. I'm kinda bummed that Christmas came and went and I didn't bake any cookies. I didn't attend any Christmas parties or get-togethers. Most of my shopping was done on-line and Alyssa wrapped 90% of the gifts. I almost feel like I observed from the side lines. There was none of the last minute panic that I hadn't done enough and rushing out to purchase unneeded gifts, that was a good thing. Mitch and I purchased a new TV and decided that would be our gift to each other and we pretty much stuck to it. No buying unnecessary gifts just to have something wrapped under the tree. That felt good. All things considered, I'd have to say this was a nice Christmas. Maybe I'll bake new years cookies.
This picture confirms two sayings, it is better to give than to receive and good things come in small packages.
This little guy was a gift for my mother-in-law. My sister-in-law, my niece, Alyssa and I surprised her with this tiny bundle. In 20 years this is the first gift I've given her that I'm sure she loved.
What did Santa bring me? Well I'm guessing I must have made the naughty list because I woke up Christmas morning with a fever, body aches and chills. We had a nice time watching the kids open their gifts and then had breakfast with family at my aunt's house. The rest of the day was spent on the couch, where I've been all day today as well. It's not been so great feeling like poo, but it has been nice to do nothing and not really worry about it. Alyssa picked up the mess made from opening gifts and did lots of laundry while I slept yesterday. That was really the best gift I could've received, being able to rest and not worry about a big mess all around me.
Well, I guess I was able to organize a thought or two and type out some semblance of a post. I just wanted to peek out from my unintended blog break and say hi and I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Now back to the couch.
