Warning: This post will likely be all over the place. I have lots swimming around in my head but no one main topic of interest. Ever have that happen? It's like I want to chat, but about what? Nothing in particular, just chat. So if you don't have time for random jibber jabber I understand. I'll see ya later when I'm more focused.
First bit of randomness, Congratulations Carolina Hurricanes!!! Winners of the Stanley Cup. I'm not a hockey fan but am thrilled for the Hurricanes. Can anyone tell me why they all have beards? Is it because it's cold out there on the ice. My theory is it is one of those sport superstition things. I'm not a fan of the beard. But that's just me.
Next up, I'll tell you about some fun I had over the weekend. That is if you call near nervous breakdown fun. I (last minute shopper that I am) was out Saturday doing a little shopping and picking up my FIL's Father's day gift. It was going to be a Lowes gift card. I know, not very exciting but the alternative was a purse. I think the gift card would get more use. Notice I said was going to be? Yea, it didn't happen. I had been to two stores and at the third ( a thrift store) my debit card was declined. For $2.00! Declined! ??? I don't have a large balance in my checking account but surely it's more than $2.00. I just assumed it was a problem with their machine, some sort of computer problem. Once in the car I called the 800# to check my balance and yes there was at least $2.00 in there. Back on the road to go to Lowes and Casey calls from home. "Somebody has called here twice. Something about your debit card... something about suspicious activity." What???? Did you get a number. "Ahhmm... no. But there's a number on the caller ID." To try to make a long story a little shorter. That number didn't work or any of the other 10 numbers I tried. My card was blocked, I couldn't use the card for purchases or to get cash. I didn't have a checkbook so no gift card was purchased and since my legs were like noodles and my stomach in knots anyway I came home. Many more numbers were called but no one could tell me anything. I had to wait and worry all weekend about who had stolen my identity and was running all over who knows where making purchases with money I didn't have. Monday morning I finally talked to a real person (a real person with a very thick difficult to understand accent) who told me a block was placed on my card because of 2 suspicious purchases. One for $2.89 to Sony Connect (music download site) and one for $164.66 to Food Lion. Both were legitimate purchases I could account for. What made them suspicious? The man with the very thick accent said it was because of the amount. The $164.66 was more than my typical purchase amount. HELLO?? for groceries? For a family of 4? I still don't understand what happened. I am thinking maybe Casey was home downloading music at the same time I was buying groceries so the charges against the same card occurred at the same time raising suspicions and since they were not able to speak to me they blocked the card. Mitch had cash so I made a little card/envelope to hold the cash. I was happy with my little card but didn't get any oohs or ahhhs over it. That's how it is sometimes with something handmade. Not that he wasn't appreciative, I just don't think he was all that impressed.
The front and back are sewn together bottom and sides leaving the top open for the money.
OK, I had some more bits of randomness to chat about but this is already so long I'll save it for later.
The hydrangeas are from my yard. Three different bushes. I love it when you can dig a hole, stick something in the ground, give it a little water now and then and it gives you this.
